HAMPI
Hampi is traditionally knowan as pampa keshtra,Kishkindha-kshetra or Bhaskara-kshetra.Hampi is situated on the banks of the Tungabhadra River in the eastern part of central Karnataka near the state border with Andhra Pradesh.The city is filled with ancient temples, dating back to the Vijayanagara Empire. You will be amazed to know that this city is the seat of the empire which flourished in the 16th century. Hampi has been in existence since the Mauryan Empire and has seen a lot of changes ever since, making it instrumental to the course of India's history.
Hampi is famous for its ruins belonging to the erstwhile medieval Hindu kingdom of Vijaynagar and it is declared a World Heritage site. The temples of Hampi, its monolithic sculptures and monuments, attract the traveler because of their excellent workmanship.
